The Ferhunde Ladies (Ferhunde Hanımlar) (translated)

TV Series · 1993–1998 · 13 people

Ferhunde Hanımlar is a Turkish drama series that ran from 1993 to 1999 and is remembered as the first daily serial ever broadcast in Türkiye. The story follows Ferhunde Hanım and her family, particularly her daughters, as they deal with everyday events, family relationships and the troubles that come their way.

The show began on TRT 1 under the title Ferhunde Hanım ve Kızları, airing 292 episodes over two seasons. When it moved to the private channel İnterstar in 1995, it was renamed Ferhunde Hanımlar and continued for five more seasons. It ended with its 1069th episode on 13 January 1999, closing a run of seven seasons that made it one of the longest-lived Turkish television dramas.

Leading roles were played by Beyhan Saran, Baykal Saran, Güven Hokna, Melek Baykal and Şahap Sayılgan, while the wider ensemble included performers such as Tamer Karadağlı, Hatice Aslan and Sinan Albayrak, who later became well known. The cast reunited on a TV program in 2012, and TRT 1 reran the series in a nostalgia slot between April and July 2020.
