Cemo

Cemo is a 1972 Turkish film adapted from Kemal Bilbaşar's novel of the same name. It was directed by Atıf Yılmaz from a screenplay by Ayşe Şasa, with cinematography by Çetin Tunca and music by Yalçın Tura; the production company was İrfan Ünal's Akün Film.

The story centers on Memo, a bell-maker who falls for Cemo, a miller's daughter, and must defeat her in a duel set by her father to earn the right to marry her; once he prevails, the couple still has to contend with the ruthless Solikoğlu, who covets Cemo for himself.

Türkân Şoray and Fikret Hakan lead the cast, joined by Bilâl İnci, Tuncer Necmioğlu, Aliye Rona and Mümtaz Ener; the 91-minute film premiered on December 1, 1972.
