Walking After Midnight (Düş Gezginleri)

Düş Gezginleri (Walking After Midnight) is a 1992 Turkish drama written and directed by Atıf Yılmaz. It follows two women worn down by gossip in a conservative provincial town who return to İstanbul together, their bond deepening along the way. By portraying characters marginalised by society — gay people and sex workers denied a place within it — the film stirred debate in its day and is remembered as one of the bolder Turkish works to address relationships long considered taboo.

Lead actress Lale Mansur won the Golden Orange for Best Actress for her performance. In 1994 the film screened at Turin's Lovers Film Festival, becoming the first Turkish production to compete at an international LGBT film festival.
