Waiting Room (Bekleme Odası) (translated)

Movie · 2003 · 4 people

Waiting Room is a 2003 Turkish drama written and directed by Zeki Demirkubuz. Produced by Özen Film and running 92 minutes, it also has Demirkubuz handling the cinematography and editing himself. The film is the third and final chapter of his thematic trilogy "Stories About Darkness," begun with Fate and Confession, both released in 2001.

The story follows Ahmet, a director attempting to adapt Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment; after his girlfriend Serap leaves him, he searches with his assistant Elif for an actor to play Raskolnikov and decides that a burglar who breaks into his home is ideal for the part. Demirkubuz plays Ahmet himself, alongside Nilüfer Açıkalın, Serdar Orçin, Ufuk Bayraktar and Nurhayat Kavrak. The film earned Kavrak the Best Supporting Actress award at the 40th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
