Ember (Kor) (translated)

Kor (Ember) is a 2016 Turkish-German drama co-production written and directed by Zeki Demirkubuz, his eleventh feature film. Shot from February 2015 in various Istanbul districts, especially Eyüp and Güzeltepe, it competed in the International Golden Tulip Competition and was selected for the Contemporary World Cinema section of the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.

The story follows Emine, who sews at home for a living and whose life changes when she runs into her former boss Ziya while looking for work. With her husband arrested for illegal work abroad and her young son needing urgent surgery, she comes to question the goodwill behind Ziya's help. The film stars Aslıhan Gürbüz, Caner Cindoruk, Taner Birsel and Genco Özak.
