Dolunay Soysert — Biography
Dolunay Soysert was born on 25 March 1973 in Adana to a family of Circassian descent; the family moved to Ankara when she was small, and she finished high school in Istanbul. She studied acting at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center while also earning a degree in art history and archaeology from Istanbul University, then went to England and the United States to continue her training, studying theatre at the University of Nebraska.
She debuted on stage in 1995 in Kanlı Düğün and on screen in Sekizinci Saat, gaining real recognition as Latife Hanım in the 1998 film Cumhuriyet. After years with the Istanbul City Theatres, she co-founded the Istanbul Folk Theatre in 2006 and won Best Actress at the 9th Afife Theatre Awards for playing Marilyn Monroe in Buluşma. She married fellow actor Sinan Tuzcu that same year and divorced him in 2016.
On television she appeared in Bebeğim, Benim Annem Bir Melek, Muhteşem Yüzyıl and Kayıp; on film she played the poet Nâzım Hikmet's wife Piraye in Mavi Gözlü Dev and Halide Edib in Ya İstiklal Ya Ölüm. More recently she has appeared in Elimi Bırakma, Tozluyaka and Yabani.
