Ask Your Heart (Yüreğine Sor)

Ask Your Heart is a 2009 Turkish drama film. Directed and written by Yusuf Kurçenli, the film is inspired by the book "Son Krifos" by TRT producer Turgay Bostan. Filming took place in the village of Şenyuva (Çinçiva) in the Çamlıhemşin district of Rize.

The film tells the story of the impossible love between Esma and Mustafa, who live in a village on the Black Sea coast at the end of the 19th century. Mustafa, whom everyone believes to be Muslim, is actually a secret Christian. Following the Ottoman Empire's legal reforms granting equal status to non-Muslim subjects, the church's demand that secret Christians reveal their faith forces Mustafa to make a difficult choice between his belief and his love. Another obstacle to the two young people's love is Mehmet, the son of a local nobleman, who is passionately devoted to Esma.

The film, starring Tuba Büyüküstün and Kenan Ece, also features Hakan Eratik and Yeşim Ceren Bozoğlu. It emotionally portrays how the social and religious conditions of the era overshadowed individual love.
