Survivor Turkey (Survivor Türkiye)

Survivor Turkey (Survivor Türkiye)

TV Series · 2005–2026 · 33 people

Survivor Türkiye is the Turkish version of the reality competition Survivor, which itself rests on the Swedish series Expedition Robinson, developed by Charlie Parsons in 1997. It first aired on Kanal D on March 22, 2005, then moved to Show TV in 2006, 2007 and 2010 and to Star TV in 2013-2014. Since 2015 it has aired every year on TV8. Production costs forced a break in 2007, and the show returned three years later. It is counted among Turkey's most-watched and longest-running programmes.

Contestants face endurance and strategy challenges in the wild and try to avoid elimination. The first season was titled Survivor Türkiye: Büyük Macera, with teams called North and South, and Uğur Pektaş was its winner. The prize was 150,000 euros in the first season, 250,000 euros in the second and third, and 500,000 dollars in the fourth. Acun Ilıcalı has long been the host.

From 2014 the split between Celebrities and Volunteers became the show's signature format, alongside All Star seasons. Turabi Çamkıran won in 2014 and 2015, Ogeday Girişken in 2017 and 2024, and Adem Kılıççı in 2018 and 2025. In 2019 the contest started as Turkey versus Greece and later continued with mixed teams. The latest season began on January 1, 2026.

Through different eyes

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

For anyone following Survivor season after season like a drama, the real question is how the format keeps itself fresh. The Celebrities versus Volunteers split introduced in 2014 gave the show a ready-made opposition and a rivalry that resets every year, and the All Star seasons fed loyalty by bringing familiar faces back. To be honest, though, the middle stretches of these long seasons look very alike: when the game, elimination, game loop turns at the same rhythm for weeks, the tension gets watered down. In my view the show shines brightest at the start of a season and in the run-up to the final.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

The endurance and strategy games out in the wild are the kind of thing children enjoy too. Guessing together who will win can become a fun household habit. Still, the tension of elimination nights and the moments when the rivalry gets rough can be a lot for little ones. Young children should watch with an adult nearby; for school-age kids and teenagers it is an easy family programme.

History & Society Lens Asks about the period, the social background and what the work reflects.

Survivor Türkiye's run of more than twenty years is a good lens on where television culture has gone. The Celebrities versus Volunteers split turns the gap between fame and ordinary people into the contest's central tension, and it opens a debate on whether being known from the screen is an advantage or a burden. The 2019 season, which began as Turkey versus Greece and later moved to mixed teams, shows how easily national rivalry can be carried into entertainment, and how flexibly the format handles that feeling. The break forced by high production costs is a reminder of how much the economics of the genre shape what reaches the screen.
