Acun Ilıcalı — Biography
Acun Ilıcalı was born on 29 May 1969 in Edirne.
After Kadıköy Anadolu High School he attended the English Language Teaching Department of Istanbul University but left without graduating; in 1995 he tried his hand at business with a denim store, without success.
He entered television as a Beşiktaş reporter at Show TV and rose to fame with his segment on Televole and the travel program Acun Firarda.
In 2005 he founded Acun Medya, hosting Survivor Türkiye, serving on the jury of Yetenek Sizsiniz Türkiye and producing many competitions such as O Ses Türkiye.
He bought TV8 in 2013 and also owns the channel TV8.5 and the digital platform Exxen.
Listed among Variety's 500 most influential business figures in media and entertainment between 2018 and 2021, Ilıcalı bought the English football club Hull City in 2022 and serves as the club's chairman.
