Mothers-in-Law (Kaynanalar) (translated)

Kaynanalar (Mothers-in-Law) is a comedy series that began airing on TRT on May 19, 1974, and is regarded as the first domestically produced television series in Türkiye. It is also considered one of the earliest examples of the sitcom genre in the country. The story follows Nuri Kantar and his family, who migrate from Anatolia to Ankara, as they try to adjust to the rules of the big city without losing touch with their own traditions.

Despite a ten-year hiatus, the series ran for a total of 14 seasons and 314 episodes over three decades, making it one of the longest-running productions in Turkish television. Written by Tekin Akmansoy, who also starred in the lead role, the series featured Leman Çıdamlı as Nuriye Kantar and Ege Aydan among its cast.
