Goodbye Katya (Elveda Katya) (translated)

Elveda Katya (Goodbye Katya) is a Turkish-Russian co-production drama directed by Ahmet Sönmez, released on 21 December 2012. Based on a true story, the film is set in Trabzon.

Katya, who was raised in an orphanage, learns that her father is Yunus, a ship captain from Trabzon, and travels to Türkiye to meet him. Yunus refuses to acknowledge the young Russian woman as his child, while local gossip and his family's hostility leave Katya increasingly isolated. The only person who believes her is Yunus's son Veli, whose support leads to a paternity lawsuit. The case reaches its turning point through a letter written by Katya's mother Nadya before her death.

Kadir İnanır, Anna Andrusenko and Caner Cindoruk star in the film, with Rüçhan Çalışkur also appearing. It received the Best Music, Best Actress and Antalya City Council awards at the 49th International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
