After graduating from college, Ali becomes a civil servant but loses his job because of his honesty and refusal to take bribes. When he is reassigned to Istanbul, he moves in with his sister Hacer and her husband Yakup, a schemer thoroughly shaped by the corrupt system. As Ali tries to carry out his duties with a sense of sacred responsibility, he unsettles everyone around him, and the film tells his tragicomic struggle with humor, portraying an honest man's helplessness inside a self-serving web of relationships.
