The Loafers (Aylaklar) (translated)

Aylaklar (The Loafers) is a 1995 Turkish film directed by Altuğ Savaşal, adapted from Melih Cevdet Anday's novel of the same name. The 110-minute production was filmed in Istanbul.

The film portrays the decay and collapse of the Ottoman Empire in its final period through the life of a former pasha's family. A parallel is drawn between the sorrowful end of this carefree family, which spends its days in pleasure and amusement without any concern for the future, and the fall of the empire itself. The cast includes Haluk Kurdoğlu, Nedret Güvenç, Tomris İncer, Tolga Aşkıner, and Nergis Çorakçı.
