Vendredi soir
Vendredi soir (Friday Night) is a 2002 French film directed by Claire Denis that blends drama and romance. The screenplay was adapted from Emmanuèle Bernheim's novel of the same name and co-written by Bernheim and Denis. Running 90 minutes with music by the band Tindersticks, the film premiered at the 2002 Venice Film Festival.
The story follows Laure, who sets out to visit friends on the night before she is due to move in with her boyfriend. Stuck in traffic because of a Paris transport strike, she answers a radio appeal to give rides to strangers and picks up a man named Jean, to whom she feels an instant attraction. Canceling her earlier plans, the two stop at a pizzeria and then spend the night together at a hotel. Valérie Lemercier and Vincent Lindon star, with Grégoire Colin also in the cast.
