Both Sides of the Blade

Both Sides of the Blade (French: Avec amour et acharnement) is a 2022 French romantic drama film directed by Claire Denis. Denis co-wrote the screenplay with Christine Angot, adapting it from Angot's 2018 novel Un tournant de la vie. Produced by Curiosa Films, the 117-minute film stars Juliette Binoche, Vincent Lindon, and Grégoire Colin, alongside Bulle Ogier, Mati Diop, and Issa Perica.

The story follows Sara and Jean, a couple who have shared their lives for years with unwavering trust, whose relationship is thrown into turmoil when Sara's former lover François re-enters their world. The film had its world premiere on 12 February 2022 in the main competition of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, where it vied for the Golden Bear and Denis received the Silver Bear for Best Director. It was released in French cinemas in late August 2022.
