Bastards

Bastards (original title Les Salauds) is a 2013 French-German co-produced drama-thriller directed by Claire Denis, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jean-Pol Fargeau. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the 66th Cannes Film Festival.

The story begins when Marco Silvestri, captain of a supertanker, is urgently called back to Paris. His sister Sandra's husband has committed suicide, the family factory is on the verge of collapse, and his niece Justine has fallen into a severe crisis. Sandra blames the wealthy businessman Edouard Laporte for everything. Marco rents an apartment in the building where Laporte keeps his mistress and son, gradually insinuating himself into the man's life — but he has not anticipated the truths his sister has been hiding from him. Vincent Lindon and Chiara Mastroianni star, with Michel Subor and Grégoire Colin also among the cast.
