Hair (Saç)

Hair is a 2010 drama film written and directed by Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, produced as a Turkish-Greek co-production. The story unfolds in Istanbul's Tarlabaşı district, where Hamdi runs a small wig shop that doubles as his home. A solitary man who owns nothing but an old car, he spends his days and nights behind the shop window, watching the street, the passing cars, and the women waiting on the opposite sidewalk.

Hamdi knows that cancer will soon end his life, and his one wish is to travel somewhere far away before he dies; he settles on Brazil, though his dream never goes further than listening to Brazilian music. Everything changes the day a woman named Meryem comes to the shop to sell her hair. Driven by an urge he cannot suppress, Hamdi begins to follow her, and when Meryem eventually realizes she is being watched, events take a complicated turn.

Starring Ayberk Pekcan, Nazan Kesal, Rıza Akın and Asiye Dinçsoy, the film won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress at the 30th Istanbul International Film Festival, as well as Best Supporting Actor and Best Cinematography at the 47th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
