Peppermint Soda

Peppermint Soda (Diabolo menthe) is a 1977 French coming-of-age comedy-drama co-written and directed by Diane Kurys, marking her directorial debut. Set during the years 1963 and 1964, it follows two teenage sisters living with their mother in a single-parent household and attending the Lycée Jules-Ferry in Paris; the title refers to the mint soda the younger sister drinks at a café.

Partly autobiographical, drawing on Kurys's own youth, the film is among several works she based loosely on her parents' lives as seen through the eyes of young Diane and her older sister. It won the Louis Delluc Prize at the 1977 Cannes Film Festival.
