Yves Rénier — Biography

Yves Rénier was born on 29 September 1942 in Bern, Switzerland, and died on 24 April 2021 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. A French-Swiss actor, director, screenwriter and voice actor, he began his film career in 1961 with a role in an adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo directed by Claude Autant-Lara. He achieved his first major television success in 1966 playing a journalist in the series Les Globe-trotters. He became widely known, however, for the title role in the long-running police series Commissaire Moulin, which he starred in from 1976 into the 2000s. Alongside acting, he worked as a dubbing artist, lending his French voice to American actors including Burt Reynolds, Tommy Lee Jones, Paul Hogan and Chuck Norris. The son of playwright Max Régnier, he appeared in numerous film and television productions across a career spanning several decades.
