Merci la vie

Merci la vie ("Thank You, Life") is a 1991 French drama film written and directed by Bertrand Blier. It stars Charlotte Gainsbourg and Anouk Grinberg, with a supporting ensemble that includes Gérard Depardieu, Jean Carmet, Annie Girardot and Jean-Louis Trintignant. The story follows two young women whose paths cross as they travel through France, encountering a range of people along the way, in a tone mixing dark humour with the director's characteristic provocation. Shooting took place in the Hérault region, in Lacanau in the Gironde and in Paris. The film earned the César Award for Best Supporting Actor and received further nominations for Best Film, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay or Adaptation.
