Until I Lose My Breath (Nefesim Kesilene Kadar)

Until I Lose My Breath is a 2015 Turkish–German co-production written and directed by Emine Emel Balcı, marking her feature film debut. Shot in Istanbul's Bağcılar and Bayrampaşa districts, the film premiered at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival, with its first Turkish screening at the 22nd Golden Adana (Altın Koza) Film Festival.

The story follows Serap, a young woman working as a middleman in a textile workshop. Raised in an orphanage, she is forced to live with her sister and brother-in-law, dreaming of moving into a home of her own with her father, a long-distance truck driver. Esme Madra stars as Serap, alongside Rıza Akın, Sema Keçik, Gizem Denizci, Ece Yüksel and Uğur Uzunel. The film earned numerous acting honors: Madra received awards at Jeonju, Malatya and the SİYAD Awards, while Ece Yüksel was recognized as a promising young actress at Golden Adana, the Flying Broom festival and the Sadri Alışık Awards.
