Ece Yüksel — Biography

Ece Yüksel was born on 6 October 1997 in Istanbul; she began acting at seven through a theatre course at the Müjdat Gezen Arts Center, working as a child performer in commercials and series such as Bıçak Sırtı, Muhteşem Yüzyıl and Kiraz Mevsimi before a small role in Yavuz Turgul's film Av Mevsimi. Her portrayal of Funda in Emine Emel Balcı's Nefesim Kesilene Kadar (2015), about textile workers, brought her the Türkan Şoray Promising Young Actress Award at the 22nd Golden Boll Film Festival, the Young Witch Award at the Flying Broom festival, and the Ekrem Bora Promising Actor Award at the Sadri Alışık Awards. While studying theatre at Kadir Has University she spent a period in the Netherlands on an Erasmus exchange. She played Nurhan in Emin Alper's Kız Kardeşler and Ela in Ziya Demirel's Ela ile Hilmi ve Ali, winning the Golden Tulip best actress award at the Istanbul Film Festival for each; she also became known for the Netflix series Aşk 101 and for playing İnci in the series Yargı. In 2022 she appeared in George Miller's Three Thousand Years of Longing, and that same year married her childhood sweetheart, Dutch national Martin Wevers; she acquired Dutch citizenship herself in 2023, becoming a dual citizen.
