Movie · 1986 · 2 people

Milyarder (Billionaire) is a 1986 Turkish comedy-drama film directed by Kartal Tibet. Written by Ümit Ünal together with Ertem Eğilmez and produced by Arzu Film, it follows Mesut, the modest station master of a small town's train station, whose life and surroundings are upended after he wins the grand prize in the National Lottery. Şener Şen stars alongside well-known performers of the era such as Adile Naşit, Münir Özkul, Uğur Yücel and Tuluğ Çizgen.

The story drew inspiration from real people in the 1980s who tried to hide their identities after winning large lottery prizes. Preparations began in February 1985, and the Sapanca train station was chosen for its proximity to Istanbul and the support of the local municipality. To preserve authenticity, the real station master's belongings were used on set, while dream sequences were shot on single-carriage trains along the Adapazarı-Sapanca line. Running 91 minutes, the film is remembered as one of Yeşilçam's beloved comedies thanks to its strong ensemble and warm small-town atmosphere.
