Greetings Band (Selamsız Bandosu) (translated)

Selamsız Bandosu is a 1987 Turkish comedy film directed by Nesli Çölgeçen. Told in the spirit of political satire, the story unfolds in a remote Anatolian town so neglected that it is mockingly nicknamed 'Selamsız' — 'Without Greetings' — because no one ever comes to visit.

When Mayor Latif Şahin learns that the president will pass through the region by train, he plans a grand reception to draw attention to the town's problems, only to realize the town has no band at all. Murat, a drunkard who claims to be a former bandmaster, is hired to forge a band out of townspeople with no musical training, while the mayor's political rival Tahir tries to sabotage the effort. On the big day the band manages to play a few marches, but the train merely slows and passes without stopping. The film stars Şener Şen and Uğur Yücel.
