İpek Bilgin — Biography

Fatma İpek Bilgin was born on 24 March 1956 in Istanbul. An actress, theatre director, acting coach and translator, she worked for many years at the Ankara State Theatre.

She began her television career in 2005 with the series Hırsız Polis, went on to appear in Bıçak Sırtı, Ezel, 20 Dakika and Maral, and became known nationwide as Esma Boran in the series İstanbullu Gelin.

On the big screen she has appeared in the films İki Genç Kız, Hokkabaz, Kelebeğin Rüyası, Hükümet Kadın, Meryem, İstanbul Kırmızısı and O da Bir Şey mi, and in 2026 she featured in Sarı Zarflar.

İpek Bilgin has translated books on acting by Eric Morris and Joan Hotchkis into Turkish. In 2000 she shared the Best Actress award with Aylin Damcıoğlu at the 48th Art Institution Theatre Awards. She is the mother of actress Çağ Çalışkur.
