Selâhattin Fırat — Biography
Selahattin Fırat was born in 1930 in Ankara. Over a long acting career spanning both cinema and television, he became one of the familiar faces of Turkey's Yeşilçam film industry.
Among his many film and television credits, Fırat played the grandfather in the 1990 Swiss-Turkish co-production Journey of Hope, winner of the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His portrayal of Deli Sait in the 1983 film Tokatçı, along with appearances in popular television series such as Akasya Durağı and Kırık Ayna, also stand out among the highlights of his career.
Selahattin Fırat died on 3 June 2018 in Istanbul, a loss deeply felt within Turkey's film community.
