Le Distrait

Le Distrait is a 1970 French comedy that launched Pierre Richard's directing career while he also headlined the picture and co-authored the script with André Ruellan. At its centre stands Pierre Malaquet, a hopelessly scatterbrained oddball employed by the Jérico advertising agency, whose wandering mind drags his professional duties and everyday dealings into an endless chain of comic mishaps and misunderstandings. The film mixes physical slapstick with romantic comedy flavours, occasionally tipping its hat toward horror elements. Richard shares top billing with Marie-Christine Barrault and Bernard Blier, while the supporting ensemble features Robert Dalban and Jacques Monod.
