My Dark-Eyed One (Kara Gözlüm) (translated)

Kara Gözlüm (My Dark-Eyed One) is a 1970 Turkish romantic-dramatic musical film set in Istanbul. Written by Bülent Oran, directed by Atıf Yılmaz and produced by İrfan Ünal, the Akün Film production features cinematography by Orhan Kapkı and runs 95 minutes.

The story follows the love between Azize, who earns her living fishing beside her elderly father Temel Reis, and Kenan, an unemployed classical music composer. After nightclub boss Osman discovers Azize's voice and hires her, Kenan takes a job as a waiter at the same venue. When Azize rises to stardom singing anonymously delivered compositions and receives a Hollywood film offer, she must choose between fame and her mysterious composer.

The film holds a special place as the first on-screen pairing of Türkân Şoray and Kadir İnanır, alongside Ali Şen, Müjdat Gezen, Aziz Basmacı, Mürüvvet Sim and Diclehan Baban. With music by Metin Bükey and Orhan Gencebay and Belkıs Özener singing for Şoray, its title song became one of the most famous in Turkish cinema.
