King of the Garbage Collectors (Çöpçüler Kralı) (translated)

The King of the Street Cleaners (Çöpçüler Kralı) is a 1977 Turkish comedy film directed by Zeki Ökten and written by Umur Bugay. The Arzu Film production features music by Cahit Berkay and Özdemir Erdoğan, and was shot in Istanbul around Cihangir and Güneşli Sokak. Starring Kemal Sunal, Şener Şen and Ayşen Gruda, it is regarded as one of the strongest comedies of the Yeşilçam era.

Apti, a naive street cleaner in a lively neighborhood full of eccentric characters, loves the cleaning lady Hacer, who instead hopes to marry the municipal officer Şakir, a match her brothers oppose. Nearly broke and losing hope, Apti's luck turns after he stumbles into a nightclub. Remembered for its iconic scenes and dialogue, the film won Best Screenplay for Umur Bugay and Best Supporting Actor for Şener Şen at the 15th Antalya Film Festival.
