Selim Erdoğan — Biography
Selim Erdoğan was born on 1 April 1972 and grew up in the İzmit district of Kocaeli, the son of a laborer father from Adana and a homemaker mother from Tarsus. While studying machine drafting at a vocational high school he first performed on stage voicing a monkey in a show, began acting with the Kocaeli Regional Theatre, and in 1990 moved to Istanbul after winning a place at Istanbul University's state conservatory, in its theatre program; he went on to appear in the Dormen Theatre productions "Komik Para" and "Sevgilime Göz Kulak Ol", plus "2071 Türkiye", which starred Demet Akbağ and Rasim Öztekin.
He shared hosting duties with Seray Sever on the ATV morning show "İyi Günler", then became widely known playing Çaycı Abuzer in the series Çiçek Taksi (1995-2003); he was also seen in Fasulye (2000) and, both in 2004, Duvara Karşı and Dayı, later taking roles in numerous further series and films including Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, İçerde, Ramo and Savaşçı. In April 2017 he was arrested and charged with growing and selling drugs at a rented villa in Muğla, was released in September 2021, and was reported to have been detained again in July 2026.
