The Master (Usta) (translated)
Usta (The Master) is a 2008 Turkish drama film directed by Bahadır Karataş, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ayfer Tunç. Running about two hours, it opened nationwide in Turkey on May 8, 2009, telling a story of passion and marriage in a small town.
At its center is Doğan, the best engine mechanic in an industrial district who has spent years building a small single-engine airplane in his backyard. As he stubbornly pursues his dream of flying, he drifts apart from his wife, who longs to be the center of his life while coping with the pain of being unable to have children. Tested friendships, trust, love and dilemmas of dignity form the story's core conflicts.
Yetkin Dikinciler stars as Doğan, alongside Fadik Sevin Atasoy, Şevket Çoruh, Hasibe Eren, Müşfik Kenter and Tomris İncer. The film earned Hasibe Eren a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the 3rd Yeşilçam Awards.
