Rural songs

Rural Songs (Persian: ترانه‌های روستایی) is a black-and-white Iranian drama film released in 1964 (1343 in the Iranian calendar). Directed by Saber Rahbar and produced at the Karvan Film studio, it runs about 120 minutes, making it one of the longer pictures of its era.

Persian sources record an unusual detail about the screenplay: it was written by the celebrated poet Ahmad Shamlou, who asked that his name be left off the credits; the titles instead list Azizollah Bahadori as the "story arranger". The singers Iraj, Shahin and Abbas Montajem Shirazi also contributed to the film.

The cast is led by Mohammad-Ali Fardin, one of the biggest stars of Iranian cinema at the time, alongside Hamideh Kheirabadi, Iran Ghaderi, Mehri Mehrnia, Abbas Mehrdadian and Nematollah Pishvaeian.
