Debt of Honor (Namus Borcu) (translated)
Türker İnanoğlu directed and produced the black-and-white Turkish drama Namus Borcu ("Debt of Honor") for Erler Film in 1967. Fuat Özlüer wrote the screenplay, Rauf Tözüm composed the music and Çetin Gürtop was the cinematographer; the film runs 97 minutes. It is the second Turkish adaptation of One-Eyed Jacks (1961), after Dağların Oğlu (1965), and it was also Zeynep Aksu's first film as an actress.
The story begins with two friends who drive a truck, Karadayı Murat (Cüneyt Arkın) and Horozoğlu Rıza (Turgut Özatay). When their boss refuses an advance of 10,000 lira and fires them, Rıza talks Murat into breaking open a safe. Wounded by a gendarme's fire as they flee, Murat is left behind; his friend takes the money instead of waiting for him and tells the police where he is. Murat serves ten years in prison, befriends his cellmate Ömer (Yılmaz Köksal) and, once out, goes looking for Rıza. He finds a rich farm owner whose name now appears on labels, and he is torn between his love for Rıza's sister Zeynep (Zeynep Aksu) and his hatred of Rıza.
Asuman Arsan (Fatma), Feridun Çölgeçen (the boss), Niyazi Vanlı (Necmi) and Talia Saltı (the fortune-teller) also appear. Cüneyt Arkın was dubbed by Hayri Esen.
