Before Snowfall (Kar Yağmadan Önce)

Kar Yağmadan Önce (Norwegian: Før snøen faller), released in English as Before Snowfall, is director Hişam Zaman's second feature film, released in 2013 and co-written by Zaman and Kjell Ola Dahl. A 96-minute drama co-produced by Norway, Germany and Iraq, it uses Kurdish and German dialogue.

The film follows 16-year-old Siyar, who sets out to find his sister Nermin after she runs away from her own wedding. His search leads from northern Iraq to Istanbul, where he joins Evin, a street child he meets there, and the two continue towards Europe. At its core, the story confronts honour killings and the pressure of tradition. The principal roles are played by Abdullah Taher, Suzan İlir and Bahar Özen.
