Letter to the King (Krala Mektup)

Letter to the King (Norwegian: Brev til Kongen) is a 2014 Norwegian drama film directed by Hisham Zaman, his third feature. Written by Zaman together with Mehmet Aktaş, the film is a co-production between Norway and the United Arab Emirates, with dialogue spoken mainly in Kurdish alongside Norwegian and English. Its story follows five asylum seekers who are granted permission to leave their refugee camp for a single day and spend it in Oslo.

The cast includes Nazmi Kırık, Ali Bag Salimi, Zheer Durhan, Hassan Dimirci, Ivan Anderson, Derin Kader and Raouf Saraj. Running 75 minutes, the film received the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film at the 2014 Göteborg Film Festival and won Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress at the 2014 Amanda Awards.
