Don't Look Back

Don't Look Back (Ne te retourne pas) is a 2009 thriller directed by Marina de Van, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jacques Akchoti. A co-production of France, Italy and Luxembourg, the film stars Sophie Marceau and Monica Bellucci. It follows Jeanne, a writer, wife and mother of two, who begins to notice unsettling changes in her family home and in her own body that nobody around her seems to perceive. While those close to her blame fatigue and the stress of the book she is working on, she is convinced something far deeper is taking place.

A photograph found at her mother's house leads Jeanne to Italy, where she tracks down a woman named Rosa Maria who holds the key to the mystery and uncovers a strange truth about her own identity. The film was screened out of competition at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
