Comedy of Power

Comedy of Power, known in French as L'Ivresse du pouvoir, literally 'drunk with power,' is a 2006 French-German drama directed by Claude Chabrol. The story loosely draws on a real corruption scandal that shook the French oil company Elf Aquitaine and on the work of the judge who investigated it, Eva Joly.

Isabelle Huppert leads the cast as a determined magistrate who sets out to expose corporate wrongdoing among powerful executives. Claude Chabrol wrote the screenplay together with Odile Barski. The picture premiered in competition at the Berlin International Film Festival on 16 February 2006. Supporting cast members include François Berléand, Jacky Nercessian and Jacques Boudet.
