The Bait (L'Appât)

Directed by Bertrand Tavernier, L'Appât is a 1995 French crime drama about two young men and a young woman who scheme to rob a wealthy businessman, using the woman as the "bait" in a plan that ends in murder. The film adapts Morgan Sportès's 1990 novel of the same name, which itself drew on the real-life "Valérie Subra affair" that took place in Paris in 1984. Marie Gillain, Olivier Sitruk and Bruno Putzulu star in the leading roles. Released in France in March 1995, the film won the Golden Bear at the 45th Berlin International Film Festival.
