Anatomy of a Marriage: My Days with Françoise

Movie · 1964 · 2 people

Directed and written by André Cayatte, this 1964 black-and-white drama forms part of the two-part "La Vie conjugale" project, which examines the break-up of a marriage from two opposing viewpoints. A co-production of France, West Germany and Italy, it stars Marie-José Nat as Françoise Dubreuil alongside Jacques Charrier, Michel Subor, Macha Méril and Alfred Adam.

The film recounts five decisive moments of a relationship, told separately from the man's and the woman's perspective: Françoise ou la Vie conjugale presents the wife's side, while its companion piece Jean-Marc ou la Vie conjugale offers the husband's version. Shot in black and white, it premiered in 1964.
