Verdict

Verdict is a 1974 French-Italian drama directed by André Cayatte, with Sophia Loren and Jean Gabin in the leading roles. The story follows a French judge presiding over the case of a man charged with killing his lover. As the trial unfolds, the judge finds himself subjected to mounting personal pressure aimed at forcing an acquittal, which turns the courtroom battle into a test of his integrity. Written by Cayatte together with Luciano Vincenzoni and Pierre Dumayet, the film belongs to the director's long line of works examining the justice system and the moral weight of legal decisions. Shot in French, it was also distributed in some territories under the alternative title Jury of One.
