Melisa Sözen — Biography

Ayşe Melisa Sözen was born on 6 July 1985 in Istanbul. A graduate of the Theatre Department of Pera Fine Arts High School, she became known with Çağan Irmak's series Çemberimde Gül Oya in 2004-2005. In 2008 she presented the environment-themed program Dünyayı Kurtaran Kadın on NTV, and in 2009 she played Narin Bulut in the series Bir Bulut Olsam.

Sözen, who took on the characters Yağmur and Sabah in the series Şubat, gained international fame with her role as Nihal in the film Kış Uykusu (Winter Sleep), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2014; she also appeared in the third season of the French series Le Bureau des Légendes. In 2023 she played the mother in the Netflix series Biz Kimden Kaçıyorduk Anne, in 2025 she shared the lead with Ertan Saban in the series Fer, and in 2026 the film Roya, in which she stars, was screened at the Berlin Film Festival.
