Emin Bektóre — Biography
Emin Bektöre (also transliterated Bektóre; born 1906 in Hacıoğlupazarcığı/Dobrich, then part of the Principality of Bulgaria, died April 15, 1995, in Eskişehir) was a Dobrujan-born, Crimean Tatar-descended folklorist, ethnographer, lyricist, and educator. He was widely recognized as an activist for Dobrujan and Crimean Tatar cultural and ethnic causes throughout his life.
His legacy has been kept alive within the Crimean Tatar community in Turkey and the Balkans; a book published in 2023 honored him as a doyen of folklore studies in the region, and his death anniversary continues to be marked with commemorative events.
