Ayfer Feray — Biography

Ayfer Feray was born on 27 May 1928 in the Bornova district of İzmir. Active in both theatre and cinema, she eventually founded a theatre bearing her own name, and an open-air stage in Bornova was later named after her; it still hosts cultural events today as the Ayfer Feray Open-Air Theatre.

Feray appeared in more than seventy films and became a familiar face in Yeşilçam through memorable supporting roles, most notably as Müjgan in Vesikalı Yarim and as Sevda in Sakar Şakir. She also took on significant parts in Murtaza, Cemil and Acı Hayat, and appeared in the international production L'Immortelle.

Alongside her film work she remained dedicated to the stage throughout her career. She died on 13 July 1994 in Bodrum, a town she was known to love.
