Iron Earth, Copper Sky (Yer Demir Gök Bakır)

Yer Demir Gök Bakır (Iron Earth, Copper Sky) is a 1987 German-Turkish drama film adapted from Yaşar Kemal's novel of the same name. Zülfü Livaneli, who co-wrote the screenplay with Yaşar Kemal, also directed and produced the film and composed its original music. Rutkay Aziz stars alongside Macide Tanır and Serap Aksoy.

The film follows Taşbaş, a simple villager in a remote Anatolian mountain village, who is elevated to sainthood while still alive as legends about him spread among the villagers. The 94-minute film premiered on 4 May 1987 in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, won the OCIC Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, and earned a German Camera Award for cinematographer Jürgen Jürges.
