Two Men in Manhattan

Two Men in Manhattan (Deux hommes dans Manhattan) is a 1959 French film noir written and directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. Melville and Pierre Grasset play two French journalists working in New York City who are assigned to track down a French diplomat attached to the United Nations after he suddenly goes missing. As they search through the city's nighttime streets, the pair uncover uncomfortable truths about the missing man's private life, forcing them to weigh a sensational story against their conscience. Although Melville took small parts in films by other directors, this was his only starring role and the only time he appeared as an actor in one of his own pictures.
