Le Samouraï (Kiralık Katil)

Le Samouraï (released in Turkey as Kiralık Katil) is a 1967 Franco-Italian neo-noir crime film written and directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. It follows Jef Costello, a solitary and meticulous professional hitman whose latest job — the killing of a nightclub owner — goes wrong when witnesses see his face, pulling him into a cat-and-mouse game with both the Paris police and the employers who now want him dead.

Starring Alain Delon, François Périer, Nathalie Delon and Cathy Rosier, the film was adapted by Melville and Georges Pellegrin from Joan McLeod's novel "The Ronin". Released on 25 October 1967, it drew nearly two million viewers in France and earned praise for Melville's stylized direction and Delon's performance. Its influence extends to later works such as John Woo's The Killer and Jim Jarmusch's Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.
