The Visitors II: The Corridors of Time (Les Couloirs du temps : Les Visiteurs 2)
Les Couloirs du temps : Les Visiteurs 2 (The Visitors II: The Corridors of Time) dates from 1998 and belongs to French fantasy comedy. It is the direct sequel to Les Visiteurs, released five years earlier, and picks up where the first film ended. Jean-Marie Poiré directed and wrote the script with Christian Clavier, and Gaumont made the film. It opened in France on 12 February 1998 and in Germany on 30 July 1998. It runs 109 minutes.
The heroes are the medieval knight Godefroy, who travels through time, and his loyal servant Jacquouille; this time they get into fresh trouble in the corridors of time. Jean Reno and Christian Clavier continue in the leading roles. Muriel Robin takes the part of Béatrice, previously played by Valérie Lemercier. Claire Nadeau and Didier Bénureau are also in the cast.
The film set an opening-day record in France and sold 2,665,916 tickets in its first week. With more than eight million tickets sold there, it was the second most successful French film of 1998 after Le Dîner de cons. Worldwide it took only about a quarter of its predecessor's earnings. Reviews were mixed, with cast changes and brand advertising cited among the reasons for French disappointment. The series was completed in 2016 with Les Visiteurs : La Révolution.
