Foster Siblings (Süt Kardeşler) (translated)

Süt Kardeşler ("Foster Siblings") is a 1976 Turkish comedy film directed by Ertem Eğilmez and written by Sadık Şendil for Arzu Film, loosely inspired by Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar's novel "Gulyabani." Kemal Sunal plays Şaban, while Halit Akçatepe plays Ramazan.

Şaban receives a letter from his foster mother Melek (Adile Naşit) inviting him to Istanbul, but it is Ramazan who turns up at the mansion; Melek mistakes him for her foster son, and, fearing her brother Commander Hüsamettin (Şener Şen), introduces him as the family's son-in-law. As the mix-up continues, the household starts seeing a "Gulyabani" (a folkloric ghoul) at night, drawing everyone closer in their shared fright, until the real son-in-law finally appears. The cast also includes Ayşen Gruda (Emine), Ali Şen (Kerami), and Hale Soygazi (Bihter); the film remains one of the best-loved comedies of the Yeşilçam era.
