Hale Soygazi — Biography
Hale Soygazi (born 21 September 1950 in Istanbul) is one of the best-known faces of the golden age of Turkish cinema. After finishing Erenköy Girls' High School she briefly studied French philology before leaving university for Switzerland, where she trained as a model; she worked as a fashion model after returning to Turkey.
In 1972 she won a national beauty contest and was crowned "Miss European Cinema" in Italy, the same year she made her screen debut in Kara Murat: Fatih'in Fedaisi. She went on to appear in numerous films, including Vurun Kahpeye, Bir Demet Menekşe, Süt Kardeşler, Maden and Bir Yudum Sevgi, winning the Best Actress award at the Antalya Film Festival for her role in Maden and later receiving the Golden Orange Lifetime Achievement Award.
She was briefly married to actor Ahmet Özhan and later to writer Murat Belge. Now past 75, she remains a familiar and admired figure among fans of Yeşilçam cinema.
