Through different eyes

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

Pirates, knights, a dungeon and the Inquisition: you rarely get this much adventure in one film. Cüneyt Arkın's Malkoçoğlu is right at home with a sword in hand. It is an old black-and-white production, so don't expect the fights to match today's choreography. Still, the energy is high and the dubbed voices have a flavour all their own. If you love classic swashbuckling heroics, don't miss it.

Yeşilçam Nostalgic A viewer raised on the classics, looking for warm storytelling and strong acting.

The Malkoçoğlu series holds a special place among Yeşilçam's heroic adventures. When Cüneyt Arkın's dignified bearing meets Nebahat Çehre's grace, the excitement of the old matinees comes to mind. Co-directed by Süreyya Duru and Remzi Jöntürk, the film spins a fairy-tale adventure that stretches from pirates to the Inquisition. Toron Karacaoğlu's voice for Cüneyt Arkın is a fine example of the dubbing craft of the time. To modern eyes the story is very innocent and the villains very villainous, but that innocence is part of these films' magic.

Family Viewer Asks whether the whole household can watch it; cares about humour and heart.

A fun old film for anyone who likes heroes and adventure. But there is no shortage of blood, swords and violence, and the dungeon and Inquisition parts could scare small children. Better for teenagers and adults. Watching it with grandparents who love the old films can be lovely. Since it is black and white, some kids may lose interest quickly.
